Does Muscle Weigh More than Fat?
In short, no. If you put one pound of lean muscle tissue or one pound of pure fat on a scale, they will weigh exactly the same—one pound. However, the pound of muscle takes up much less space than the pound of fat. That is how two women can weigh exactly the same, but if one has a higher percentage of body fat, she will wear a larger clothing size than the leaner woman. (This should also help you put to rest any fears that lifting weights will make you “bulky.”)
